During his visit from Japan to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, Mr. Katsuhito Nakasone conducted a Traditional Japanese Tea Gathering. Here are pictures from this very moving event. Mr. Nakasone consulted with Paul Jones, curator of the Culberson Asiatic Arboretum at Duke Gardens, regarding the landscaping around the Durham - Toyama Sister Cities Pavilion. The Sister Cities of Durham Annual Meeting will be held October 22 (Thursday), from 5:30PM to 7:00PM at City Hall, 101 City Hall Plaza. 5:30pm - snacks, socializing and chamber music 6:00 pm- Introduction of guests: Mayor Bill Bell, Toyama and Kostroma 20th anniversary recognition, Durham Reads 6:20 pm - annual business meeting 6:40 pm - Learning through Photography documentary Project in Arusha, Riverside Journalism Project 7:00 pm - finale with Durham Children's Choir |
